From Drab to Fab: Exciting Aquatic Renovations Underway!
The Midwest
In March, our renovation crews in St. Louis completed their project at Crestview Middle School. We replaced the existing surface with Pebble Sheen, new tile race lanes, a new stainless steel gutter system, new filters and face piping, created a new ADA ramp, and installed new diving blocks. We also got the opportunity to replace two pool heaters and install a new pump.
Our project at Neo Vantage started mid-March. This pool is being built inside a new apartment building right off highway 270. Everyone is working hard to push this project along, aiming for a Memorial Day weekend completion date. We’ve currently got the pool shelled out, and it’s time to work on plumbing, backfill, and the mechanical room.
We’ve hit the ground hard at St. Ann. This project consists of a newly renovated bathhouse, demo of the existing pool and slides, and the installation of a new pool, splash pad, and slides. Although it does not open until Memorial Day 2025, the crew is working hard to stay on schedule.
The pool and splash pad at Whitmoor Country Club is wrapping up, ready to meet the completion date of Memorial Day weekend. The old competition pool floated out of the ground. Not only was a new pool installed, but also fun features like a basketball hoop, zipline, waterslides, and a splash pad.
This summer our St. Louis crew will be traveling to Columbia, Missouri to renovate the ARC’s indoor pool. The pool is getting a new play structure, plaster, and tile. Working with the City of Columbia could be a great opportunity for Landmark as they are looking for renovations at other facilities this fall.
At the end of the regular pool season, work will start with the City of Fenton. The existing play structure will be removed and a new Splashtacular play unit will be installed.
The South
Landmark’s renovation crews in Houston and Austin have been working tirelessly on multiple projects. In April, we completed a renovation and new build for Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, Texas, consisting of building a new splash pad, a new slide runout pool, new pumproom and surge pit, and tying into existing pumproom filtration systems. This project was an extreme push like no other we have undertaken, with crews working extensive hours to complete it in time for the park to open. We worked hand-in-hand with the other contractors, Classen-Winters and White Water to make this project a success.
Currently, renovations are underway at various facilities throughout Texas. The Falconwing Park renovation in The Woodlands Township, TX involves replacing filtration systems for two pools, installing new slides and spray features, constructing a new pumproom, and adding ADA-compliant features. Additionally, there will be new tile, coping, and deck coating, along with modifications to the existing pumproom.
In La Porte, TX, ongoing projects include a splash pad, featuring new systems and a 4,000-square-foot pad with various features, aiming for completion by season’s end. Another project involves renovating the wave pool generator system, set to finish by Memorial Day. Additionally, a play structure is being built in the zero-depth entry of the wave pool, expected to be completed by the same date as part of a previous project.
The project at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, TX involves constructing a large new slide runout pool with beach entry, seven slides, complete underground filtration and plumbing systems, and a new pump room. The Texas State Hospital’s renovation consists of a replacement of the underground filtration system and a complete cosmetic makeover with plaster, coping, tile, and a partial deck replacement. We also conducted a filter swap for the Strawberry Waterpark in Pasadena, Texas.
Upcoming renovation projects in Texas include a partial renovation of an existing outdoor facility for the City of Deer Park’s Rec Center that consists of new main drains and a cosmetic transformation with new plaster, tile, coping, and deck coating. This project also consists of a new build of a small recreational indoor pool. Also, a renovation and new design-build will be completed for the Brushy Creek splash pad. The existing facility is being demolished and a new 4,000-square-foot splash pad is being built with all the bells and whistles.
