Murphy Aquatic Park, located in Avon, Indiana, is a groundbreaking facility recognized as Indiana’s first fully ADA-accessible aquatic park. Operated by Washington Township Parks and Recreation Department, this 35-acre destination includes a large wave pool, dual waterslides, a toddler splashpad, and an accessible water playground featuring 48 spray elements and a signature super-splasher.
A key feature enhancing the park’s accessibility is the inclusion of Life Floor, a cushioned, slip-resistant surfacing solution. Life Floor’s design invites all types of aquatic fun, allowing guests to “run, wheel, crawl, jump, tumble, and relax,” thereby supporting inclusive play for all ages and abilities. Additionally, Spectrum Aquatics, known for their long-standing commitment to accessibility in aquatic facilities, provided ADA pool lifts and lifeguard stands for this projectโreinforcing the parkโs mission to create a safe, inclusive environment for all guests.
Landmark Aquatic was proud to be part of the team that brought this visionary project to life. Our role supported several key aspects of the aquatic construction process, from installation of complex pump and filtration systems to ensuring sustainable and efficient day-to-day operation, with a focus on helping ensure the long-term success and functionality of the facility.
Murphy Aquatic Park stands as a model for accessible, well-operated aquatic facilities. Weโre proud to have contributed to a project that sets a new benchmark for community recreation.
