Landmark Aquatic completed a comprehensive design-build renovation of the aquatic amenities at Little Cedar Bayou Park in La Porte, Texas, serving as the designer, general contractor, and aquatic contractor for the $2.25 million project.
The existing 14,800-square-foot, 350,000-gallon wave pool underwent an extensive transformation. Landmark replaced all mechanical equipment and underground piping, installing two Neptune Benson Defender filters and new 40 HP circulation pumps to significantly improve hydraulic performance and water quality. The existing surge chamber was repurposed as the new pump pit, while a new, larger surge chamber was constructed adjacent to the mechanical room to support the upgraded circulation system. The wave pool also received a new plaster finish, restoring the facility’s appearance while extending the service life of the aquatic attraction.
The mechanical and hydraulic improvements reduced the wave pool’s water turnover rate from approximately 24 hours to just 6 hours, providing substantially improved filtration performance, enhanced water quality, and more efficient daily operation. The completed renovation modernized one of the region’s signature aquatic attractions, creating a more reliable and enjoyable experience for both operators and guests.
Completed a few years prior, Landmark Aquaitc also constructed a new splashpad featuring a variety of interactive spray attractions and modern water treatment systems, including AccuTab chlorination, Acid-Rite pH control, a Chemtrol chemical controller, and UV disinfection.
