Landmark Aquatic served as the aquatic designer and contractor for the renovation of the Kokomo High School aquatic environment in Kokomo, Indiana. The project included improvements to both the 3,195-square-foot, 119,930-gallon lap pool and the 1,604-square-foot, 165,850-gallon dive well. The renovation focused on modernizing critical pool infrastructure and competition equipment while working within the constraints of the existing facility.
The scope included the design and renovation of the mechanical room, including the installation of Neptune Benson RMF filtration systems, BECS chemical controllers, and Pulsar chlorination systems. Landmark Aquatic also oversaw the installation of new Paddock gutter and main drain systems, two 1-meter Duraflex diving boards, Spectrum Aquatics starting blocks, and a Colorado Time Systems timing system.
During demolition of the lap pool, existing structural conditions and additional tear-out of the pool walls created complications when resetting the gutter system. The new gutter had to be positioned with an overhang to accommodate the existing pool structure. Landmark Aquatic worked closely with its tile subcontractor to develop a field solution using a thick-set tile assembly, allowing the team to achieve the required finished pool dimensions while maintaining code compliance.
The completed renovation provides Kokomo High School with updated aquatic systems and competition equipment while extending the useful life of the existing facility. The project demonstrates the value of combining aquatic design expertise with field construction experience, particularly when renovation work requires practical solutions to unforeseen existing conditions. Despite the setbacks, the team successfully completed turnover in time for Kokomo High School’s 2025–2026 swim season.
