Doris Roznovak Aquatic Center

The Doris Roznovak Aquatic Center in Taylor, Texas offers a diverse range of aquatic experiences that serve users of all ages and abilities. Built by Landmark Aquatic, the center features a 7,485-square-foot, 128,097-gallon zero-depth entry leisure pool equipped with Life Floor safety surfacing, four lap lanes, a current channel with vortex, and Splashtacular aquatic play structure, spray features, and waterslide. These amenities create an inclusive environment that supports recreation, fitness, family entertainment, and water play for the entire community.

The facility features modern mechanical and water treatment systems designed to enhance water quality, operational efficiency, and user safety. The facility incorporates a Neptune Benson UV system to provide secondary sanitation and improve water clarity. Aquify supplied key circulation system components, including integration with an existing filtration system, new strainers and strainer baskets, and variable frequency drives to optimize performance and energy efficiency. Water chemistry is monitored and controlled through a chemical controller, while an Accu-Tab chlorination system and Acid-Rite pH adjustment system deliver reliable chemical treatment. The project also includes a variety of Spectrum Aquatics equipment, including handrails, lifeguard chairs, an ADA-compliant pool lift, and other deck accessories that support accessibility, safety, and day-to-day operations.

This project successfully combines innovative engineering, community-focused design, and exceptional recreational value in a single facility. Faced with the City’s primary concern of minimizing structural weight, the entire project team, including Landmark, developed a creative construction solution by building the aquatic facility on drilled piers and void forms and utilizing structural foam in place of traditional rock backfill in select areas. This approach reduced the overall load on the structure while maintaining long-term durability and performance.
