Landmark Aquatic partnered with the City of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, to complete a $2.8 million design-build renovation of the Spirit of ’76 Park Swimming Pool. The project modernized the community’s existing aquatic facility with updated mechanical systems, new aquatic amenities, and improvements designed to support recreation for a wide range of ages and abilities.
The renovated leisure pool provides distinct areas for different types of activity, including a zero-depth entry, current channel, recreational swimming area, and dedicated diving space. A new pool liner completed the renovation of the pool structure, while new shade structures provide additional comfort for guests on the pool deck.
New attractions expanded the ways the community can use the facility. A Natural Structures dual waterslide tower serves as a major feature of the pool, complemented by Water Odyssey and Vortex spray features at the zero-depth entry. Additional recreation elements include a Spectrum Aquatics basketball hoop, Poolside Adventures AquaClimb and AquaZip’N, and a 1-meter Duraflex diving board.
Behind the scenes, Landmark Aquatic updated the pool’s mechanical and water treatment systems to support day-to-day operation and long-term facility performance. Improvements included Neptune Benson horizontal sand filters, a BECS chemical controller, Pulsar chlorination system, and variable frequency drives (VFDs), along with the associated equipment installation.
By delivering the project through a design-build approach, Landmark Aquatic was able to coordinate the pool’s mechanical, structural, and recreational improvements as one renovation. The completed facility gives the City of Mt. Vernon an updated community pool that balances recreation and play with the infrastructure needed to operate reliably for years to come.
